'I Went Through Hell In Office' - Bamanga Tukur Has A Word For His Successor

The former National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Bamanga Tukur, reflecting on his 21-month tenure said he went through hell in office.
photo
He warned whoever was going to take over from him to be wary of “evil plots” by certain members whose mission is to completely destroy the party. He advised the person to be fearless, consistent and focused.
Tukur said, “Some members got so desperate that they turned to the media and funded all negative reports against me. If you are familiar with all the negative media reports, none attributed any wrongdoing to me. The reports only echoed the views of the sponsors that I was unbending in my desire to change the bad situation in PDP.
He added that if not for the wisdom and doggedness of President Goodluck Jonathan, the party would have collapsed long before now and that his resignation was a huge sacrifice, adding that he would continue to support the President and the PDP to the best of his ability.
He however insisted he stood by every decision he took while in office, saying such decisions were meant to reform the party and to deepen internal democracy.
He therefore called on Nigerians to continue to pray for Jonathan and the PDP to overcome its trying moments.

Anti-gay bill: US threatens to sanction Nigeria

The US has threatened to sanction Nigeria following President Jonathan’s signing of the Same-Sex Prohibition Act 2014. The world power is threatening to scale down its support for HIV/AIDS and anti-malaria programmes in Nigeria. This was made known yesterday Jan. 20th by James Entwistle, the US Ambassador to Nigeria.

Mr Entwistle said he was worried about "the implications of the anti-same sex marriage law which seems to restrict the fundamental rights of a section of the Nigerian population.”
"The issue of same-sex marriage was very controversial all over the world, including within  the United States where 17 states out of 50 had endorsed it, but others still reject its legality. The issue that we see and I am speaking as a friend of Nigeria is that as I read the bill, it looks to me that it puts significant restrictions on the freedoms of assembly and expression; in my opinion which applies especially in advanced democracies, once government begins to say something in these areas, freedom no longer applies. It seems to me that this is a very worrisome precedent.”

Same Sex Marriage: Who be government teacher? By Reno Omokri

An article written by Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media. Find below...
The criticism President Goodluck Jonathan has faced in some quarters for signing the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Bill 2011 into law is in my opinion clearly misplaced. For one, these critics have to understand that the way and manner democracy works, at least in Nigeria, is that the Legislature makes the laws, the Executive implements it and the Judiciary interprets it.
But be that as it may, in Nigeria, the President at any time is both a Head of State as well as the Head of Government, this is one reason why the President is called an Executive President. Continue...

Meet The Lady With The World's Longest Tongue

Chanel Tapper, a student from California, USA has the world's longest tongue measuring 9.75 cm (3.8 in) from tip to top lip. Her lizard-like tongue is twice as long as the average, as long as the world's largest cockroach, as wide as your palm, the same volume as a quarter pounder hamburger and around the same length as an iPhone. According to Chanel:

I was eight and my mom and I were taking pictures for Halloween. In one of the pictures we stuck our tongues out. I noticed I had a long tongue when the pictures from Halloween were printed and I saw it...but I guess it became apparent in middle school when people started commenting on it.
Chanel is currently the Guinness Book Of Record's Female With The World's Longest Tongue.
